MapReduce is a programming model forprocessing and generating large data sets with a parallel, distributedalgorithm on a cluster.In this paper, it introducesthe first Cost-based Optimizer for simple to arbitrarilycomplex MapReduce programs and a Profiler to collect detailed statisticalinformation from unmodified MapReduce programs, and a What-if Engine forfine-grained cost estimation.
